Holiday Explainer: What’s the Difference Between Delta-8, Delta-10, THC-O, and Active CBD

Dec 13, 2021

Where once there was only CBD, which had exploded in popularity over the years, now there are more cannabinoids than you know what to do with. Delta-8 THC, Delta-10 THC, THC-O HHC, Active CBD, THCV, and more all continue to grab the attention of an excited public which, let’s be honest, loves the idea of a legal buzz. But this holiday season, the choices a=can feel a bit overwhelming — which cannabinoid do I purchase for whom? Does this person prefer Delta-8 THC or Delta-10 THC? And how do I know which is which? It can all be very confusing.

What makes it even more difficult is that everyone is using hemp-derived buzz-worthy cannabinoids, from Silicon Valley professionals, millennials, and just about anyone interested in natural, organic remedies. After the year that we’ve had, hemp compounds that offer users a legal buzz have found a new audience as a stressed-out, anxiety-ridden populace looks for ways to calm their nerves and lower their anxiety while staying home.

“Why is there such a growing demand for Delta-8? For starters, its chemical structure is similar to that of its well-known cousin, Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-9-THC), the main psychoactive compound found in marijuana. That’s what gets you “high.” Both Delta-8 and Delta-9 are forms of THC. But when people refer to THC, they usually mean the Delta-9 that’s found in high concentrations in marijuana. Both produce a euphoric, fuzzy feeling, but Delta-8 causes a milder high,” writes WebMD.

“In fact, Delta-8 is often referred to as “marijuana-lite” or “diet weed.” Other common THC side effects like paranoia, anxiety, and drowsiness are also less potent,” the site continued.

The growth of these products has been unbelievable, fueling a — dare we say — revolution when it comes to hemp and hemp-derived cannabinoids built on a foundation of CBD. Billions and billions of dollars now flow through the legal hemp market thanks to folks like you, and there’s no indication it will stop anytime soon. But as more and more people begin to explore the possibilities of cannabidiol, Delta-8 THC, and more, there’s confusion. AFter all, there are just too many cannabinoids.

So if you’re looking to buy some hemp-derived, buzz-worthy cannabinoids this holiday season, here’s a little explainer to help you out.

CBD, For Those Who Love the Classics

So, this holiday season, if the Secret Santa on your list isn’t into something new — they’re not the type to prefer a buzz, so to speak, then perhaps you want to stick with good, old-fashioned CBD. It was hemp-derived CBD that opened up the market in the first place, and without CBD, no other cannabinoid would be possible. Full-spectrum or CBD isolate products make wonderful holiday gifts.

As a little reminder, we note in our own CBD guide that “Full-spectrum CBD products contain a more specialized range of cannabinoids and terpenes. This full range profile will provide the maximum level of entourage effectiveness, assuming that a high-quality extraction method was utilized. The chemical content of a full-spectrum CBD extract most closely mirrors that of the plant.”

Broad-spectrum CBD is like Full Spectrum but without the THC. And finally, CBD Isolate, as we also have explained in the past, is pure CBD. “Like all other cannabinoids, CBD can be isolated down to the single molecule. The resulting product is a fine white power that is very highly concentrated (99% +) cannabidiol,” we wrote.

We continued: “This isolate is then added to a variety of different carriers for human consumption. For example, CBD isolate is often added to MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides), as well as a variety of other products where oil would not be appropriate.”

For Those Who Like a Buzz, Gift Delta-8 THC

Of course, as great as CBD is, there are so many more options this year. Under the tree or in a stocking, you can do so much more. Delta-8 THC was the first and still remains closest in so many hearts to offer users a legal buzz. Much like Delta-9 (cannabis), Delta-8 THC is a psychotropic cannabinoid, but the buzz is much smoother and subtler.

As we wrote earlier this year: “Delta-8 THC is one of the only legal cannabinoids with a buzz. Sure, cannabis is making headway state-by-state, something that we totally support. But Delta-8 is on a whole different playing field thanks to our favorite piece of legislation — the Farm Bill. Since the Farm Bill made hemp legal a few years ago, along with all of its derivatives, Delta-8 THC has been federally legal. Cannabis just can’t compete.”

We continued: “Second, unlike Delta-9 THC, Delta-8 THC offers users a smooth and subtle psychotropic high. No more worrying about paranoia or anxiety or bats flying around the belfry. When you use Delta-8, you’ll remain cool, relaxed, and calm. That’s because Delta-8 THC is a workhorse cannabinoid. It allows you to feel buzzed but not so buzzed that you’re locked on the couch. With Delta-8 THC, you can continue to function as you would.”

So, if you’re looking to hand out Delta-8 THC this year, try some Chill Plus, Delta-8 THC Bites, or 10X!

For Those Who Need Something Stronger, Try THC-O

Sometimes people need a buzz that goes the extra mile. You know what we mean. Everyone has those folks in their life who have tried every cannabinoid imaginable. In those cases, you need THC-O.

“Well, the truth is, THC-O is probably the boldest, most potent cannabinoid to hit the market since cannabis itself. For those of you not used to trying compounds with a psychotropic high, you’ll want to take things very slowly. And for those of you who have been climbing the ladder in products like Delta-8 and Delta-10, even you will want to go at a steady pace, as THC-O may knock you down. It’s a great cannabinoid, one that’s filled with many pleasures, but it is potent and needs to be respected,” we wrote earlier this year.

We continued: “In other words, THC-O is a beast. Both newbies and veteran cannabinoid users should want to start slow and work their way up. Find the correct dose that works for you, and don’t dive in head first because there’s no backing out once you’ve committed.”

So put some THC-O in a stocking this holiday and stand back.

For Those Who Can’t Get Delta-8, Gift Active CBD

We know how great Delta-8 THC can be, but what about those who can’t get it? There are myriad states where Delta-8 and other buzzworthy cannabinoids are restricted or banned. As awful as it is, there’s m=not much that can be done right now.

But there is something you can do — buy them Active CBD. Want to know what we wrote about it earlier this year? We thought you might: “Well, how about you give Raw Cannabinoid Active CBD with NeutractivTM a try? What is Raw Cannabinoid Active CBD? We’re glad you asked!”

We continued: “Think of it as Delta-8 THC combined with Delta-10 THC for those times when you don’t have either. You know what we mean — Delta-10 THC is the sativa-like cannabinoid that offers users energy, creativity, and motivation. And Delta-8 THC gives you a super sweet buzz that lets you relax. Now, wherever you are in the world, even if both cannabinoids are unavailable to you, motivation, energy, creativity, relaxation, and a banger of a buzz can still be right by your side. NeutractivTM is the focus you need to become employee of the month and more.”
