Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a phytocannabinoid found in hemp. It is 1 of 113 cannabinoids(that we know of today) and is non-intoxicating. Learn more about CBD.
Is the source of my CBD important?
When purchasing CBD, you also want to make sure that you know the quality behind your brands. All of the brands featured at CBD Mall conduct third-party lab testing to ensure and maintain the best standards in quality, consistency, and purity. Learn about CBD extraction methods.
Will CBD get me "high?"
Absolutely not! CBD oil is an entirely different cannabinoid from THC. Moreover, CBD oil extracted from hemp contains negligible amounts of THC — less than 0.03 percent — making it impossible for anyone (or their pet) to feel high when using it. Remember, although CBD oil comes from hemp, CBD oil is not marijuana. Learn about the different types of CBD.
Is CBD legal?
Yes, CBD Oil is legal in all 50 states. The Agricultural Act of 2018, also known as The Farm Bill, gave every state the power to grow and cultivate hemp and its byproducts, including CBD.
Is CBD psychoactive?
No. CBD oil contains cannabidiol (CBD), the non-psychoactive compounds of the cannabis plant. Hemp oil does not have the psychoactive qualities found in THC, and while using it you can maintain a clear mind and active lifestyle. Learn more about CBD.
What are terpenes in my CBD?
Terpenes provide CBD oils with distinct flavors and scents. CBD-flavored terpene oils can also have physiological effects on the human body. Many CBD oils bring together terpenes to create an “entourage effect” with the compounds working together to produce specific physiological and psychological effects.
Will using hemp oil products, even hemp creams, make me fail a drug test?
While CBD is federally legal in all in all 50 states, and full spectrum CBD products only contain trace amounts of 0.3 percent THC (in accordance with the legal limit), the answer to this question is a bit complicated.
Employers are typically testing for levels of THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana and other cannabinoids associated with marijuana, and not CBD on their drug tests. In fact, most don't actually have a CBD oil drug test screening, and popular firms like Quest Diagnostics don’t even offer a test for CBD compounds.
But, as mentioned in an October 2019 New York Times article, some drug tests which use GC-MS (gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) can confuse CBD with THC and report a false positive.
CBD can remain in the bloodstream for three to five days, depending on the administration method, but it is unclear how long it can be detected in saliva, urine, or hair.
That being said, it is important to remember that CBD oil extracted from hemp contains only negligible amounts of THC — less than 0.03 percent — making it impossible for anyone (or their pet) to feel high when using it. Learn more about CBD.
How do I know if I am buying the best CBD products?
The best CBD companies take certain steps to ensure that their customers receive only top-quality CBD oil. Check for clearly-labeled packaging on all CBD oil products, including CBD edibles and CBD capsules. CBD Mall features brand information on each Storefront page. Many brands provide independent third-party lab reports for CBD products so that consumers know exactly what’s in the bottle.

Besides CBD oils, what other products are there?
While CBD oil is the most well-known delivery method, CBD comes in all kinds of forms including edibles such as gummies, popcorn, and even dried fruit; CBD capsules; CBD creams, bath and body items, and skin care; and CBD drinks, to name a few. There’s even CBD oil for your pet! Shop our full selection of CBD products.
How are CBD edibles different than CBD oil?
CBD edibles are usually found in something sweet, like CBD gummies, or CBD cake pops. There's also delicious CBD honey that can be added to your favorite foods or drinks, and is an especially popular addition to hot tea. Meanwhile, just one or two CBD gummies can give you the CBD you need to put you back on track. For those looking for something a bit simpler, CBD capsules are a popular no-fuss option. CBD oils can be flavorless or flavored and can be taken alone or added into your favorite foods and beverages, if designed in tincture form.
My isolate product came crystallized. What should I do?
CBD isolate tends to naturally crystallize, which consumers should expect when purchasing these types of products. This affects the even distribution of cannabidiol milligrams contained per dose. To more evenly activate the CBD molecules, the product should be slightly heated by placing the container into a bowl of warm water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Shake well and enjoy.
How is CBD extracted?
People should be careful of cheap CBD oil, because toxic solvents such as propane, hexane, or butane may have been used to extract it. Poisonous solvents can be extremely hazardous. Although some companies use ethanol in their extraction process, the best companies use supercritical CO2 extraction for everything, including flavored CBD oil collections. It maintains the purity of the CBD oil throughout the entire process. Also, supercritical CO2 extraction retains all of the naturally occurring beneficial molecules found in the hemp plant. There are other extraction methods. Visit our CBD Journal for more information on other extraction methods. Learn more.

CBD, also known as cannabidiol oil is one of many cannabinoids found in cannabis. Cannabis is the genus name for both marijuana and hemp, and the term itself is not necessarily interchangeable with marijuana. In fact, almost all CBD oil today comes from industrial hemp, which contains negligible amounts of THC, the cannabinoid responsible for causing a high. Most strains of agricultural hemp are rich in CBD while only having less than 0.03 percent THC, making them perfect for extracting CBD oil. Learn more.

What kind of dosages of CBD oil should I give my pet?
With CBD oil for pets we like to use a tiered system of dosing, depending on your pet’s size, as preferred by many experts:
Tier 1: 0.05 mg per lb of bodyweight
Tier 2: 0.125 mg per lb of bodyweight
Tier 3: 0.25 mg per lb of bodyweight
Regardless of your pet’s size, you should start with Tier 1, using that dosage twice a day. After a week, move up to Tier 2 only if necessary, ditto for Tier 3.
The following examples are based on Tier 1 dosing:
Pets up to 25 lbs: Up to 1.25 mg twice a day
Pets 25–50 lbs: Between 1.25 to 2.5 mg twice a day
Pets 50–75 lbs: Between 2.5 to 3.75 mg twice a day
Of course, you’ll need to do some calculation on how many mg of CBD oil there are per drop. Some brand's dosage instructions will differ, so please read the instructions carefully for each individual CBD pet product. Learn more.
What is pet CBD oil?
Pet CBD oil, like all CBD oil, is made up of cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. It is also known as cannabidiol. Most all pet CBD oil today comes from industrial hemp, which contains very little THC, the cannabinoid responsible for causing a high. Most strains of hemp are rich in CBD and have less than 0.03 percent THC. Learn more.
How does CBD work with pet's Endocannabinoid systems?
Pet CBD oil works with your furry friend’s endocannabinoid system. Because CBD is a cannabinoid, it helps to supplement a pet’s natural cannabinoids, which helps the endocannabinoid system to become stronger. The endocannabinoid system is really just a bunch of cannabinoid receptors. And although pets produce their own natural cannabinoids, they can also use CBD oil or cannabidiol. It is known as a phytocannabinoid (plant-based cannabinoid) and can supplement the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Learn more about CBD for pets.
Will CBD oil make my pet high?
Of course not! Pet CBD oil from hemp contains no more than trace amounts of THC. According to what’s legally required it has less than 0.03 percent THC. So little, in fact, that it would be impossible for a dog or a cat to become high when using it. CBD oil comes from hemp, but CBD oil is not marijuana. Learn more about CBD for pets.
Is pet CBD oil legal?
Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation going around the internet these days. Pet CBD oil is legal in all 50 states. The FDA sees hemp-derived extracts as food-based products. Hemp oil is used by millions of people (and their pets!) across the globe, and the number is rising as more studies explore its many potential health benefits.
